DoScan – Privacy Policy

    Short version: DoScan processes everything on your device. We do not collect, store, or share any personal data. No accounts, no servers, no tracking.
  

1. Who We Are

DoScan is developed and maintained by Masif (contact: mail.masif@gmail.com). The app is published on the Google Play Store under the package ID dk.masif.doscan.

2. Permissions We Request and Why

CAMERA

Used to capture document scans, QR/barcode scans, business card scans, and passport photos. Images are saved only to your device's local storage. The camera is never accessed in the background.

READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE

Used to save scanned images and generated PDF files to your device. Files are stored in the app's private documents directory and are never uploaded anywhere.

READ_CONTACTS WRITE_CONTACTS

Requested only when you explicitly choose to save a scanned business card to your contacts. We do not read or access contacts at any other time.

USE_BIOMETRIC USE_FINGERPRINT

Used optionally for app lock (if enabled in Settings). Biometric data never leaves your device — authentication is handled entirely by Android's system APIs.

3. Data We Collect

We collect no personal data whatsoever. Specifically:

No names, email addresses, or account information
No location data
No usage analytics or crash reporting
No advertising identifiers
No data is transmitted to any external server

4. Data Stored on Your Device

DoScan stores the following data locally on your device only:

Scanned images and generated PDFs (in app private storage)
Folder names and document metadata (in a local SQLite database)
App settings such as theme preference (in shared preferences)
QR/barcode scan history (in a local SQLite database)

All of this data remains on your device at all times. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.

5. Third-Party Services

DoScan does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The app uses the following on-device Google ML Kit libraries for text and barcode recognition — these libraries run entirely on-device and do not send data to Google:

6. Children's Privacy

DoScan does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Since we collect no personal data from anyone, the app is safe for users of all ages.

7. Data Security

Since all data is stored locally on your device, it is protected by your device's built-in security (screen lock, encryption). We have no access to your device or its data.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
